Notes: | The manuscript is accompanied by a 1958 letter from Charles Boewe, University of Pennsylvania, discussing the possible provenance of Rafinesque's manuscript; he believes it to be one of six documents, possibly the only one to survive extant. An article by Boewe on the same topic appears in the proceedings of the American Philosophical Society (December 1958) accompanying the article; Lehigh's possession of the manuscript is mentioned on page 592.The manuscript came into Lehigh's possession in 1882. |
